I PUT MY AIR FRYER TO THE SELF QUARANTINE TEST...

During this crazy time of the coronavirus lots of supermarkets and grocery stores are pretty empty. I even had to make my own white bread using my white bread recipe from the Ultimate Bread Baking Handbook. So, I knew for this video that I wanted to reuse lots of the same ingredients and most importantly, I wanted them to be inexpensive. I created very versatile and yummy recipes like fried onion broken grilled cheese sandwiches to mini stuffed mushrooms to homemade pop tarts in my airfryer. However, these recipes can be done in a regular oven as well. It's crazy what you can create using just a few simple and staple ingredients like milk, eggs, and bread! Check out how each one of these recipes came out here!

Homemade Poptarts:

Ingredients:

  • 1- 9 inch round pie crust

  • 1 jar of strawberry jelly

  • 1 egg, plus a little bit of milk

  • Canola spray

  • ⅓ cup of confectioners sugar

  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, plus a little lemon zest

  • Rainbow sprinkles (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Start by cutting the pie dough into 6 equal rectangular pieces.

  2. Add a spoonful of strawberry jelly and seal up the poptarts with a little bit of water.

  3. Take a fork and crimp the edges to completely seal up the poptarts so nothing leaks out.

  4. Next crack and egg and a little bit of milk into a bowl and mix, spray the airfryer with a little bit of oil, and place the poptarts in.

  5. Give the poptarts a coat of egg wash and bake at 315 degrees fahrenheit for 8 minutes.

  6. In the meantime make the icing by whisk ⅓ cups of confectioners sugar with the zest of a lemon and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Set aside.

  7. Once the 8 minutes are up, bump up the air fryer temperature to 350 degrees fahrenheit to fry for another 4 minutes.

  8. Place the poptarts onto a cooling rack and pour over the icing and sprinkle on some sprinkles.

  9. Let cool and munch away!
